LEAVING DUNWICH?
Bad idea, friends! Leaving Dunwich does not work out well for those non-native to this timeline/reality. Let’s call this barrier The Ghost Line. It’s about the size of Dunwich itself, seen in the map below:
Anyone who crosses The Ghost Line:
- Your physical body drops to the ground, inside the ghost line, as if dead.
- A ghost or psychic impression of yourself is what steps outside the ghost line. To the naked eye it can sometimes be seen as a small wisp of mist.
- It's easier to view your incorporeal "ghost" form outside Dunwich on overcast or rainy days. It's nearly impossible on days with clear weather.
- You can move at regular walking speed outside the ghost line. Like a dream, it is very difficult to run or move faster than that.
Well shit, I crossed The Ghost Line. Now what?
- Your presence is made of "mist" the very unnatural force that brought you to Dunwich. Being outside of Dunwich you risk the larger world the longer you remain outside the ghost line.
- Worst Case #1: horrors from the todash space are able to use your ghost form as a conduit to slip into this reality. It may not be the largest horrors, but that still doesn't make it good.
- Worst Case #2: something from this world passes through you in part or in whole and ends up in the todash space. Do not walk through people. Hopefully all you do is some minor property damage.
- Walk back inside the ghost line, and you wake up in your body, even if your body has been moved somewhere else. It's that easy? (Assuming your body wasn't moved outside the ghost line. You won't be able to wake up in your body until it's back in Dunwich.)
